Caroline Dance West (CDW)
Dancer Contract
CDW is a competitive club. As such, Dancers who belong to CDW are expected to adhere to the following standards of conduct and deportment:
1. Conditioning, flexibility and basic technique training are essential to becoming a better dancer. All dancers are expected to consistently challenge themselves to excel during warm ups, stretching and in dance class. Dancers are expected to stretch and practice at home.
2. Teamwork is essential. Dancers must speak positively towards ALL others and be willing to accept constructive criticism from teachers and assistants. Everyone’s goal at CDW is to help you become a better dancer. A dancer who cannot be positive and/or cooperative will be asked to leave the class until the attitude is changed and an apology is given.
3. Punctuality and attendance are MANDATORY. Dancers must arrive 15 minutes prior to class start time and be ready with dance attire and hair done accordingly for that class. This time should be used to warm up and stretch. Any dancer arriving late must wait to enter the studio quickly and quietly. Attendance is critical for the success of your dancer, your teacher and your classmates. Any dancer who consistently misses or is late for unacceptable reasons will be put on probation. The dancer will be asked to sit out for the class. If more than 3 classes are missed especially in Festival/ Recital time (January to June) the student will not take part in Festivals. We understand that life has unforeseen challenges so these will be taken into consideration.
4. If the dancer is going to miss classes, it is their responsibility to make arrangements with Dance Teacher to catch up at their own cost and when the Teacher has time in her schedule for private lessons. You must let a board member or teacher know if you are going to be absent.
5. When in the studio, at all times during a festival and in the community, our dancers are expected to uphold the virtues of the club and behave in a way that will make our fellow dancers, club and community proud. Public displays of affection, swearing or other inappropriate behaviors are unacceptable.
6. When a Dancer struggles with one of the above expectations they will first be counselled by their teacher. If the problem persists the dancer will be put on probation. When a dancer is put on probation, contact with the parent will be made and steps put in place to help the dancer overcome the challenge they are facing.
7. If the dancer continues the negative behaviour they will be asked to leave the club with no refund of fees paid, including any festival fees.
